Adam & Eve ?
The following are a few of the verses in Genesis referring to Adam & Eve:
Genesis, Ch.I,Verse 26 And God said “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness….
V.27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
,Ch.II,Verse7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.
Ch.II, Verse18 Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper as his partner.”
V.21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof.
V.22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from the man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
Ch.IV,Verse 1. And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived and bare Cain…..
V.2 And she again bare his brother Abel.
V.8 ….Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
V.16 And Cain went out……and dwelt in the land of Nod,…….
V.17 And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived, and bare Enoch, and he builded a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch
V.25 And Adam knew his wife again, and she bare a son, and called his name Seth.
Chapter V, Verse 1, This is the book of the generations of Adam…….
V.2 Male and female created he them, and called their name Adam….
V.3 And Adam lived an hundred and 30 years, and begat a son………and called his name Seth.
V.4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years, and he begat sons and daughters.
Comments There are obvious incinsistencies in these various accounts. First, (I, 26 & 27) we are told that God created Adam and Eve,in his own image, both at the same time. But then (II,7), he makes Adam from the dust of the earth and breaths life into him, then sometime later (II,18,21,22) creates Eve from one of Adam’s ribs. Obviously, both cannot be true.
Ch. IV- Cain went to land of Nod, found a wife, had a son and founded a city. So if Adam and Eve were the first humans, where did Cain’s wife and all the people who populated his city come from? There is no mention in the bible of God creating any other humans.
Ch. IV After Cain and Abel, Adam ‘knew’ Eve again, and had Seth, but in Ch.V, Adam lived 130years and had Seth, but no mention of the first two sons, and nothing to indicate the wife was Eve, and no mention was made of the names of the wives who bore him sons and daughters over the next 800 years.
Of course, the idea of a man living 130+800= 930 years, 6000 years ago, when any disease or severe accident was almost sure to result in death, was impossible. Not to mention the aging process built into the cells of the human body, that limits us to 100 years or less.
It is apparent from these inconsistencies and impossibilities that the story of Adam and Eve and their descendants is just a tale made up by a bunchh of ignorant, supersititious sheep and goat herders.
